The industrial unit of Sakthi Portugal is located in Águeda, in the sub-region of Baixo Vouga in the Central Region of Portugal, known for its heavy industry; its exports include paper, ceramics, chemicals, automobiles, and food. The land with about 200,000 m2 and relatively flat topography, corresponded to an extensive eucalyptus plantation. We sought to recover the soil to accommodate different types of trees and vegetation in the future. The implementation of the building at the north end of the ground, respects the expansion plan that will group other factories in the complex. The aesthetic and spatial options of the project were guided by the functionality of the specific manufacturing processes. The building consists of a mixed structure of concrete and metal columns arranged in a 10 meter metric that support a metal cover of self-supporting sheets. The shape of the Shed-type industrial facility takes advantage of the North-South orientation directing a great amount of natural light to the interior spaces, besides controlling the direct solar incidence. The geometry of the building results from the altimetry variation of different spans 20 meters apart from each other, ranging from 14 meters high in the storage area (north) up to 20 meters high in the melting zone (South). SAKTHI Portugal develops and produces critical safety components in nodular iron for the automotive industry, standing out for finding reference solutions combining values of simplicity, economy and functionality. The building solved the assumptions in an efficient way, meeting the image of quality that characterizes the company.

The cellar and the storage and logistics center of Gran Cruz, are located in the Douro region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site corresponded to a degraded area that had served as a civil construction building site. The land was reclaimed and further developed a project where both aesthetic and spatial choices were guided by the functional aspects of the economic and procedural functions. It is an industrial unit dedicated to winemaking and Port and Douro wine storing. The major scale of the building is due to the fact of having to receive the grapes produced by more than a thousand region winemakers. With the use of a natural unevenness of the land, different levels were created to allow the use of gravity in the various winemaking processes, without disproportionately increase the volumetry. The project includes two cellars, the first one will vinify about 6,000 tons of grape from approximately 1.000 winegrowers from adjacent districts, and the second is focused on small volumes of Port and Douro wines of exceptional quality. Further comprising a Storage and Logistics Center to store 22 million liters of Port Wine and grape spirit Brandy. It is the most modern center of its kind in Portugal, incorporating innovative systems at every stage of the production process, introducing huge environmental and quality increases. The image of the building contributes to strengthen the interest in Gran Cruz Porto and solidify the brand success in the future.

The warehouses are located in Pier Capelo Ivens, midway between the bridges of D. Luís and Arrábida, in a riverside road overlooking the Douro River. Given the width of the road they become almost part of the river. Served by Fontaínhas ladders, they form an angle with Viterbo de Campos Street, a narrow road that runs behind them. In general, the buildings were severely damaged, being only possible to recover the facades and part of the structure. The main objective of the plan was to take advantage of the buildings, reinventing its forms and making the most of its characteristic location. The potential uses of the buildings have been developed in a mixed manner in order to enable multifunctionality, so they can attract complementary interests. According to this argument, spaces were created for both business and residential use. On one hand, the existing buildings were restored in order to make them look like a harmonized whole, and, on the other hand, additional forms were introduced to break with tradition and bring out the general set. The warehouses were built with the same type of old materials, following some of their original forms showing a concern for quality in the search for a contemporary image.

The basic idea was to suggest simple but strong sensations. Being slightly suspended from the contour elevation, the building seems to project out of the ground, giving an appearance of both bulk and lightness. Two large spaces were planned within the plot but outside the construction: a large patio running off the atrium, and a small square linked to the commercial zone. Such as an analogy to a city block, the building incorporates multiple different scales, from large-scale integration in Parque das Nações, to the intermediate street scale that continues on the inside space of the square, up to the human scale of those who live it. The architectural planning of the regions of most significant area were resolved in the subsoil (the lighting of these spaces is controlled through patios), distributes the open-office spaces per two east-west oriented nine floors bodies, occupying the margins of the plan. The structure has a concrete base that is an integral component of its total image, when seen both from the inside and from the outside. By not reaching the ground, the huge concrete wall on the west, allows us to visualize the Pavilion of Portugal at the height of the avenue. In order to guarantee the sense of continuity achieved between the patio and the small square, the street traffic was plunged under the proposed square via a tunnel. This channel also provides access to parking areas and loading/unloading bays. The pedestrian access is concentrated in the main entrance off the building, alongside D. João II Avenue, making the atrium the departure point for accessing all the different parts of the office block. Built like a glass box, allows you to view the grand courtyard of the building and the water mirror that creates different optical illusions by reflecting the upper floors. A Curtain wall system has been adopted for the façades, alternating aluminium and glass to reduce optically the scale of the building, creating its own particular identity. This also provides a pleasant internal work environment with decent lighting and worthy panoramic views. Great importance has been given to the to the folding vertical outer shutter patented by Lorenzon, which has the function of manually regulating the internal lightning intensity for each work station, thus creating irregular shapes on the outside which, combined by the other elements, complete the desired architectonic characteristics. Through a PLC system, one has complete control of the opening and closing of the blinds, up to making the façade completely blank. The set of volumes and the effective combination of materials such as concrete, aluminium and green shaded glass, balance an intended appearance of both weight and lightness.

The overall implementation is divided into two major manufacturing units of composites and fabricated metal and their corresponding administrative buildings. We sought to combine an image of quality to the specificities of a company of this nature. The administration building is located at the entrance of the industrial lot. Consisting of two bodies connected by a covered patio, is characterized as a construction of two floors. In the first one are developed all social areas and in the second one function the administrative areas. This building was performed in concrete structure up to the first floor, consisting of columns, beams and floor slabs. The top floor is mainly constructed of lightweight metal frame to allow the construction of higher spans, enabling the organization of open spaces. The industrial units are composed of a metallic trusses solution with maximum spans of 45 meters. The buildings are implanted in the center of the lot in order to expand their own areas in the future. The coverage is made up of self-supporting metal sheets which reach different spans measures, ranging between 20 and 30 meters, in accordance with the layout of the industrial process used by EMBRAER. The design of the building seeks to coat that same layout, covering it and giving architectural principles to the building. The Shed type buildings take advantage of the North-South axis orientation, allowing constant light entries without solar incidence. This logic is also applied to the side walls, contributing to the inside management of a large quantity of natural light.

The house is located in an agricultural area, on the top of a hill, facing south. It enjoys a privileged relationship with the landscape, appreciating extensive panoramic views. The house is divided into different functions, with the particularity that the circulation areas are treated as indoor gardens, trying to establish a unique relationship with the exterior, without losing the comfort required for the interior. The construction results in a series of volumes connected by a combination of indoor and outdoor gardens, which separate the different uses. The whole set is covered by a portico with vegetation supported by a thin metal frame, which allows shading and ensures privacy to the most exposed areas. The house varies according to the seasons, acting as a changing body, allowing different interpretations.

The terrain of 4500 m2 is located in an elevated illside facing west. Its orientation allows you to enjoy a unique setting with panoramic views over Óbidos Lagoon, in Caldas da Rainha. The proposed implementation was determined based on the integration of the building into the local topography in order to take advantage of sunlight and views. The house merges with the sloping ground, assuming itself as a unit composed of several west oriented volumes. The construction of the outer walls was made in exposed concrete, functioning also in some cases, as land retaining walls. It is organized in two parts linked by a common circulation corridor that runs the length of the volume. The first, with access to the upper level, the second half-buried, constantly communicating with both space and terrain. On the upper level are located service areas and living areas. On the lower level are located the bedrooms and sanitary facilities. Wooden floors have been extended outward to improve the transition between built and outer space.

Pavilion originally built for Expo 98 and transposed into Oporto City Park in 2012. The building projects itself in the space creating the illusion of being suspended in the air, challenging our perception of gravity. It has two levels standing the exhibition area located on the second. The space was designed to operate in its true largeness, promoting flexibility in the occupancy of different experiences, conceived with varying sizes. At the same time we try to control natural light and maintain a relationship with the omnipresent outer space by rotating the galvanized steel sheets lining the facade, acting as a brise-soleil. In its interior are found a series of experiments designed by Experimentarium in Denmark, by a team led by the physicist Nils Hornstrup and the designer Peter Claudell, forming a set of combinations that play with color, light and sound, producing effects, simulating happenings and explaining different outcomes. All through the water, the only source of energy of the experiments.
The Maia Jardim center results from the conversion of the former Finex textile factory facilities, by the IC24 access node, in Nogueira, Maia County. The complex with around 30 000 m2 comprises a commercial center with 20 shops and a hypermarket. Were created 3 parking levels with 900 covered places and 150 on the upper floor, outdoors. Both in a structural as in a conceptual dimension, the construction is programmed for a hypothetical expansion in the future. Aesthetically speaking, the mall suggests an abstract geometrization of a forest of thin trunks, establishing links with a future contiguous urban park. The simplification of patterns and textures related to nature elements, combined with the imagery of the representative SONAE stores, embodies a strong and universal image.

The plan is part of an ndustrial and Storage field area, confronting with several buildings of this type. The implementation design considers the best possible integration, taking into account some specific spatial requirements, such as the requirement for heavy vehicles to circulate around the building perimeter. The highest industrial hall of the complex, with 10m available headroom, corresponds to the storage area and is equipped with an unleveled quay to facilitate the handling loads. Adjacent to this shed lies another equally sized used as a workplace for heavy vehicles maintenance, complemented with some support warehouses. In the junction of these two volumes, interconnected with both, it´s located the service building. It stands as an independent element, solving the entrances and distributing areas. TRACAR presents a strong brand identity that was intended to exalt in their new facilities. Therefore, the building gained more visibility in relation to the main road through a visual treatment that recognizes the company's image. Thus, the south and west facing façades were designed with a steerable vertical brises solution that besides contributing to an original image, brings environmental benefits by decreasing the energy costs of the building.
